please check XWeather

Postby Jay on Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:24 pm

At some time today, daily forecasts became very truncated, current readings are suspect or missing and my maps dropped from 9 to 5.
Thanks

I THINK we can disregard this. It seems to have been a wx.com hiccup.
Forecast days are still somewhat abbreviated but all data appears to be acurate again.
Apologize if false alarm.

Yup, really odd.
My suite of 9 maps returned as did full forecasts info as did current wx conditions.
Weird.

Well, everything had straightened out by itself.
I did install the latest bleeding as of the rewrite on one machine.
On that machine only, the current readings are still correct but, I have 8 rather than my 9 maps and the forecast info for the days following the current one are truncated again. It appears that today's forecast is complete but subsequent days' show only daytime forecast info.

An easy way to tell if you are getting the entire forecast is to pull up the detail screen that shows the barometer, sunrise, sunset, uv info. If it's blank than it's using the backup weather source. If it has all it's info then it's using the primary source.

So I don't know if your info is from the backup or primary.

But, the today and tomorrow forecasts usually have more detailed outlook data, the rest are more basic but they usually give about a sentence of info.

I updated it to allow more maps, please try the latest bleeding edge again. You might have to post a screen shot of what you see, and the forecast xml file so I can see if it's something to do with the new primary source.

Will do.
I'm betting it's the source, not XL, in that my original complaint corrected itself.
I'm leaving my server's WX alone as a reference. That's the one that "self-corrected".

No difference.
All current readings appear valid. (barometer, temp, etc.)
Still have 8 rather than 9 wx maps.
Forecast complete for today, abbreviated (not 'truncated' as said before) for subsequent days. A closer look shows that evening lows are posted.

Another look at the older XL version on my server still shows:
All current readings appear valid. (barometer, temp, etc.)
Still have all 9 wx maps.
All forecast days are "verbose".

I have posted a screen shot of the XL client with the latest build.
This Is NOT a hot problem.
