When are database changes flushed to disk?

My htpc as recently passed away, while it was in its final death throws it was very unstable...

I save play info on my music/movies and i was losing a lot of updates.

When are database changes flushed to disk?

I guess you mark items has dirty when they are modified?

I was expecting you to flush the changes to disk in the background (when system is idle etc), but i am not sure that you do.

if i don't explicitly save the database using the save db command if anything happens to xlobby i was loosing my updates.

I have save to item disabled if that is any use.

Should be every three hours of inactivity it saves data, I replied on mantis for the command you are using to save the data. When I exit after saving info from a spider its there on a reload, so I think it might be a command you are using that doesn't have the new save code.

3 hours is quite a long time, i tend have mt pc go to sleep when its not doing anything or i go to bed...

Could the timeout be added to the options page so i could tweek it?

Also do the changes always get flushed when xlobby is closed?

ok I've made some changes to make it save right away instead, if this causes some unforeseen issue I'll switch it back to the old way but lower the 3hrs to something like 10min.

Yes all changes did get flushed on exit, but that wont matter now, they will save within a couple seconds.

It's in the latest bleeding edge if you want to test it.

Not sure what i am missing, but i did a bleeding edge update played left it playing some music...

the track played times where updated and i could see the changes on the playlist...

i also set a few ratings manually, agian i could see the new values on the playlist...

But the music.xml file was never updated.

When i exited xlobby the file was not updated (clicked close on the system bar, not an exit option on the main menu).

Had similar results when i played a movie - i could see the changes on the screen, but the movies.xml file was not updated.

if i force a save using the event command it is saved.



not sure it it effects any code paths, but i have save to item.xml disabled in the options tab...
