6th Pre-Release Ready

Postby stevenhanna6 on Sat Aug 04, 2007 7:14 pm

Expires September 9th 2007

Ok whats new in this release, a couple of minor fixes. This is because there are now two versions of xlobby I'm working on as I transition to the new .net 3 platform. So this is basicly the same as the last build but with the expiry date extended to give me more time to work on the .net 3 version. Once I get the .net 3 version up to par it will be released.

I dont want to go into too much detail as to what the difference will be in the .net3 version I'll save that for another thread. I should be able to start posting some screenshots of it late next week.

Steve,

Although I can get the XAntMovie plugin to rewrite the movies.xml database from inside the skin, I cannot seem to get XLobby to reload the movies database without restarting.

Please see the messages starting here: http://xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2604&p=40651#p40626.

I'm not sure if this is pilot error (although at this point I think I've tried everything possible) or an issue with the newer versions of XLobby.

Steven,

I downloaded this 6th release and something new that I can't understand the reason why changed, is in the HTML Code... Let me show you the HTML generated now:

<html><head></head><body><img width=0 height=0 border=0 src="http://192.168.0.103/fakeimage.jpg"><a href="http://192.168.0.103/1259994252/map"><img border="0" src="http://192.168.0.103/1259994252/screenshot1259994252.jpg" ISMAP></a></body></html>

As you can see, there is a new instruction that ask to show a jpg called "fakeimage.jpg"... I can't find this image in the xlobby directories (I only made a partial update), so my 3Com Audreys are showing the typical symbol that indicates a "not found" image (an "x" inside a square box).

What is the reason of this change?... Will you eliminate this instruction, or to create the image, or let me know how to get it?...

Thanks in Advance, Pablo

blopa26, your right that was some left over code from some testing me and Wes were doing with a new hand held tablet. It's built in browser wasn't behaving properly so we were trying to come up with a work around for it. The "fakeimage" code will be removed in future versions, it slipped by in this release.

Steven, Thanks for your reply... As far as I understand there isn't a workaround now, just wait for a new release... Taking advantage of this post, can you tell me if you're doing something to stabilize the Web Server now, or if this is not in your short-term goals with XL?...

Thanks in Advance, Pablo

Pablo,

Why not make a single-pixel jpeg image, and name it fakeimage.jpg ? Ask Steven where to place it ...

Thanks for your idea... I already did it and works fine... Unfortunately the stability problem in the Web Server was not fixed yet... Pablo

this release expires before Cedia ends. Are we all just out of luck on this? Expires Sept. 9, last day of Cedia.

Yes , this is pretty concerning. I built a whole new skin based on this pre-release to get to grips with it. I hope the effort was not wasted.

So are we not going to have a release before the current version expires in about 16 hours or so?

Considering that everyone is at CEDIA and the show doesn't end until tomorrow, I'd bet not.

Well yo guys are obviously not in the spirit of trade shows. You're supposed to be out drinking until the wee hours so that the pain from the hangover the next morning over rides the pain in your feet.

I've done many. This is the first CEDIA I haven't been too in a long while.

Glad to hear the show has gone well.
