Wes:

Just to I have this straight. Are you saying that you would be able capture your TV content from another service with the "Hard Drive component video recorder" and be able to create an .xml database that xLobby can use? So a live broadcast would be recorded to a format that xLobby would then be able to stream to it's internal player? I'm not sure how you would get a STB to work with this solution, I'm guessing you would control the STB with the USB-UIRT through xLobby. I guess the mediaportal solution is the only solution we will see for quite some time. I just am concerned about the level of integration MP offers.

This one doesn't look like it would record or pass through surround/digital audio signals. I'm not sure whether us video junkies would stomach a significant degradation in the audio. However, I guess if this gets a good video recording one could dub the soundtrack from a DVD onto a movie.
