The most common way to control a tv using xlobby is a usb-uirt. I use one, and it works very well.

This thread

should answer most of your questions. Depending on what exactly you want to do, you may need to set up macros. Once you get the hang of entering codes right, its not too hard to do.

the iPAQ units mentioned above have the ir built-in, along with a nifty software package that lets you separate it by room....neat stuff

Yes, that's the Nevo software. I have that on my Ipaq too. I've used it exactly 0 times. Why? Because the IR on the Ipaq is weak and because I don't use line of sight IR remotes on my hometheater anymore. The Xlobby client/server method works much better IMHO.
BTW, their new ppc/remote looks like the BOMB!! http://www.mynevo.com/Mynevo/Home.aspx
I've though about buying one just to use Xlobby on, but I don't know if it can just soley be used as a PDA.

Wow, that sure looks like the remote to top all remotes. I want one. 8)

yup...for the devices by the HTPC...I use it throughout the whole house for all the devices I have (~15 remotes!)

..wonder how much that nevo piece is????
