Valuable winamp plugins

Postby P3rv3rt B3ar on Wed Feb 14, 2007 10:33 am

I think for many of us winamp is almost internal piece of Xlobby... yet i feel dizzy when going on their plugin page to scout for suitable plugins for my setup. So i got an idea, wouldnt it be great if we had a thread about winamp plugins which add value to your XL setup.

It would serve two fold purpose, give links to all relevant winamp plugins in one place and it would help us to exhange ideas how to make most of winamp within our XL setup.

So format for this thread is simple:

- Name of the plugin
- download link
- For what purpose to use plugin in your setup (please make elaborate enough, especially if purpose is not obvious but more like hack or workaround)

No other kind of posts please.

Somewhat Mono
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=142869
Mono plugin for winamp that has been posted here before. I am using a 6 channel amp and I only need 1 speaker in each zone so I only use 1 channel per zone (6 possible zones, 3 left channels and 3 right channels) and have the Winamp balance slider all the way to the right or left depending on which channel I am using. The problem with this is if you have a song that has audio that switches from left speaker to right or vice versa you loose sound at certain points, this plugin solves that problem by making it mono and still sounds great to me.
I think I explained that right

My Picks

Sound Solution 1.31
http://www.soundsolution.it/

1.31 is a Free multi-band audio processor giving you control over Gain, Compression, EQ, and Stereo Field Adjustments. There are tons of presets to grab and try as a starting point.

SQR Advanced Crossfading
http://www.sqrsoft.com.ar/en/acf.html

Ahh the magic... This little crossfader doesn't just start crossfading at X seconds, but dynamically 'listens' to the upcoming and outgoing audio to find a much better point based on levels. Highly configurable and even supports an extra DSP stack internally.

Hey all. Been a while since I've been on here. Had a little falling out with xlobby after running through a couple computers that still couldn't manage anything stable. Finally picked up a computer from WOOT with xp multimedia edition. Spaceball-City (aka, Xlobby 11 (being our third xlobby try (think binary))(one more paren)) runs great. Got theatertek and it just played the dvds flawlessly "straight out of the box" so to speak. I still prefer to use the older winamp (alot less junk comes with it), and that works great. I'm using the earliest one that plays wmas and all that. We threw another soundcard in it with the intentions of having one soundcard run music and another to run the movies. I forgot the name of the plugin, but there is one that allows you to direct the sound from winamp to any soundcard you'd like. Bam, an instant (almost) 2 zones.. We have the sound going to an external distribution, so zones are controlled separate from xlobby.

Also among my favorites are the visualizations. I like the Luminglass or Lumiglass or however it's spelled. That looks real neat on a projector.

Edit again
I just found this plugin and it may be of some help to people here. Might help some people with zone control and such. Haven't tried it or anything.
