Xlobby stability for 7x24 use

Postby jmv on Thu Mar 11, 2004 1:36 am

I am considering putting Xlobby on my remote server which currently runs 7x24 serving data to my other PC's. Is any one else running XLobby 7x24? Vers 39 has been pretty stable on my HTPC, but that is an on and off application. Is XLobby stable enough that you can have it run virtually forever. I would hate to have to go outside, into the basement to restart the server ever few days or so, but I would like the server to also run Xlobby and control my multizone audio...I am tryting figure out if I should use a second box for that application or if the app is stable enough not to make my server unreliable.

thanks,

mv

Running Windows XP Pro with a raid array for a month without reboot or user intervention. Can I expect the same once I load XLobby?

It probably depends on a lot of things, and what skin and features you are using. But remember it is still in alpha, which by definition means it's not done or as stable as it can be.

From my personal experience, yes, I've run xlobby on the htpc for around 10 days before restarting and it ran fine, the hardest thing about it was keeping windows "fresh" so to speak. If you can achieve that then you should be ok. Steven has done wonders for making xlobby run faster and with as little cpu usage as possible in the past few updates.

It should be stable enough...I've accidently left it running for a few days on end without any trouble, but the only way your going to know is to test it out....and report back if it has some issues.
