How do I make a video playlist??

Postby The One on Mon Jun 20, 2005 5:25 pm

I have my TV Series episodes ripped to individual directories.

I would like to create a video playlist of several episodes, and then pass the playlist to Zoom Player. I've looked at several skins and have not seen any example of this. I also did not see any commands that would let me manage this function. The closest I found was "video playlist>Play Trailer", and add each episode as "trailer". This looks like it could work, but I could not figure out how to pass "category>MyTv>parameter", to the "File" parameter of "Video playlist>play trailer".

Has anyone else implimented a video playlist??
How do I pass a variable to a command parameter?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. I have created zoomplayer playlist with command line parameters and variables, I think. (it was a long time ago) I think you have to create an event with custom OS commands to do it using variables and configure ZP to add not just play. I am not sure on all of the specifics with out trying it out myself, but I remember doing it once before.

My Skinning doc has some helpful ZP params. http://xlobby.incolby.com/SkinningXlobbya40.2.htm

Got this working. In case anyone else is trying this, here is my general technique.

Background - I have a TvSeries database organized as:
SeriesName>SeasonName>EpisodeName

The Wife likes to fall asleep watching Mash. Sometimes it takes more than one episode for her to fall asleep. She wanted to queue up several episodes so she did not have to "wake up" to start the next episode. So she looked to me for a solution. Here is what I came up with.

General Steps

1. Create the following events and buttons. "TVSeries" is my category I'm working with and "TV" is where my events are stored.

TV>
--->New Playlist
------->video playlist>new playlist
--->Add To Playlist
------->video playlist>play trailer>%TVSeries>parameter%
--->Play Playlist
------->video playlist>play video
------->category>execute>tvseries
--->Next Item
------->category>next item>tvseries

To use it, just navigate to the first epispde to play, and..
1. New Playlist
2. Add To Playlist
3. Next Item
4. repeat steps 2 and 3 until list is complete
5. Play Playlist

The complete list will be passed to Zoom, and the wife is happy. :)

In order for video playlist>play trailer>%TVSeries>parameter% to work, you will need to get the latest http://www.xlobby.com/xlobby2.zip

Nice. I just played with it and made it work, but it's kinda non-intuitive.

Steven, could we have the same functionality for video playlists as we have now for audio playlists?

What I need the most is:

* category with a list of cued videos that can be displayed and browsed

and maybe

* ability to move items UP/DOWN
* ability to clear individual items from playlist

Would that be a problem to implement?
