Help each other out

Assigning winamp to mutiple zones.

Postby rhinoman on Thu Apr 22, 2004 12:31 pm

My new delta 410 has just arrived (the second one) and I shoved it on the server with its twin. It intsalled fine and appears in the windows/control panel/sounds as delta 410(2) and from here I can assign windows to play to any one of the outputs.

In winamp when I try to configure the outputs the list shows

delta 410 1/2
delta 410 3/4
.. 5/6
.. 7/8
.. digital
delta 410 1/2
delta 410 3/4
.. 5/6
.. 7/8

Whether I select the first 1/2 in the list or the second 1/2 the sounds still comes form the first card. I dont seem to be able to get sound from the second card via winamp.

Any ideas??

John,

My first guess would be a driver issue. Which version of Winamp are you using?

I just checked my studio system with both V2.81 and V5 and both show all 32 of my available outputs as follows:

STR 1-2 Mixtreme 1 (emulated)
STR 3-4 Mixtreme 1 (emulated)
STR 5-6 Mixtreme 1 (emulated)
.....
STR 17-18 Mixtreme 2 (emulated)
STR 19-20 Mixtreme 2 (emulated)
.......
Mixtreme 1 WDM
STR 1-2 Mixtreme 1 WDM
STR 3-4 Mixtreme 1 WDM
STR 5-6 Mixtreme 1 WDM
.....
STR 17-18 Mixtreme 2 WDM
STR 19-20 Mixtreme 2 WDM

The system is essentially the same as yours. I have 2 PCI cards, but each has 16 outputs, giving me 32 total.

I hope this helps.

Sam

I'm using winamp 2.91 but I did try 5 lite and its the same.

The maudio driver shows both the cards and youi can switch between them to change stuff. Windows device manager shows both the cards but they are both named the ame "delta410", but as I said in the control panel they appear as 410 and 410(2)???

Found a work round, if I select waveout as opposed to direct sound then the secon card shows up as seperate outputs which can be selected :D

How does waveout compare to direct sound??

Don't know, but it should work. This sounds like it is a driver issue. You might want to contact M-Audio suuport and see what they say.

Let me know if you find out. It's always good to know these things :)
