Reccomendations & Opinions on DVB & HDTV cards for H

Postby Aaron on Sun Sep 04, 2005 7:25 pm

My goal:
XLobby
Over-The-Air (OTA) HDTV
N2 coded channels from Dish
PVR for both (what software works best and integrates w/ XL?)

I have Dish500 dual LNB with Dish 4 way switch hardware already.

Please give reccomendations and opinions of any DVB cards you are using or know about that will do what I'm looking for. Also, if you know of a place (other then eBay) where the card(s) can be had for a "better then normal price" (i.e. standard google search), that is also appreciated!

Also, if you know anything about the FireDTV card (http://www.firedtv.com) please let me know!

btw, I'm in the USA.

thanks!

I'm very happy with my FireDTV card :D

I had some trouble when I ordered it so I ended up with paying for the card twice.A quick phonecall to them fixed it and a few days later they transferd the money back to my account.Think that was very good service !!

Can you give me the specs on your setup for your HTPC?

Does the FireDTV do both HDTV & Sat at the same time?
What PVR software are you using?

You can use the Happauge Cards with Lar's Special Build of Media Portal which can be found in the plugin section.

It works a treat.

I am also interested in FireDTV. I like the fact that it is an external firewire module since I don't have any PCI slot available on my HTPC.

So can anyone confirm whether it can be used for North American Satellite Services ?
