getting mkv subtitles to play

hey
how inside XL can you get subtitles to play with MKV file.
in haali media splitter i have the english subtitles to automatically play.
Outside of XL, works great in media player, or zoom player, the english subtitles start right up. but when i play the movie in XL, i cannot get the subtitles to display.

anyone have any ideas?

how does XL play .mkv files? what decoder?

I did it.
there was a section in haali media splitter i had to set
Options Tab> Compatibility> Autoload VSFilter (set to on)
then Install VSFilter V2.34.

poof i have my subtitles
(does happy dance)

**edit**
small issue is now all the mkv's play subs, even if the language is english.
looks like now i have to figure out how to configure the vsfilter.
