Coverart size?

Postby mattdisaster on Fri Apr 08, 2005 1:50 pm

Hey everyone-
Lately I've been experiencing lag when going through my music collection and I think it might be due to the size of the coverart images on some albums. I'm running at a very low res (680x480) and am working on getting 856x480 to work. Whats a good size for cover art to be at these lower resolutions? I have a large amount that are 500x500 and they seem to work great, but I dont want to make any huge changes to find out 500x500 is a bad size. thanks!

I run at same res as you, all my covers are 200x200 and no lag time, you can see them quite nicely, however if you streach them too much to like 25% of the screen for 1 cover they don't look that good :)

Since I run Xlobby @ 800*600 my coverarts are 600x600 so when displayed fullscreen they have same resolution as screen :-) I have slight delay when I go page-next page-prev in categories because of this. I have yet to try on new HTPC (P4 @ 3.4 Ghz) since my current HTPC is 1.2 Ghz and not a master of speed :-)

using large cover art will slow down xlobby, there is really no point in using larger cover art if your just using them for thumbnails.
