Start playing a single playlist on XLobby launch

Postby trvtec on Tue Jan 17, 2006 3:57 pm

Hello everyone, pretty simple question I suppose. I'm using the standard blue/gold skin if that matters - what I want to do is anytime I launch XLobby, it starts playing a playlist. Ideally, I'd like that playlist to start in shuffle/repeat mode also, but I'll take what I can get first. I use my HTPC for a lot of stuff and I don't always have XLobby up and running. However, this way I could start XLobby with my remote and not have to worry about going to the HDMI input, loading up a playlist, and playing it. I would assume there are command line parameters for this but I am not sure. Any advice or guidance would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone? I finally got my video games to show in an overlay mode with all the Rom2Xlobby database information thanks to looking around on the forums and finding the answer that way. I still haven't found anything about launching a playlist though. Is it that simple?

You can create an event that executes whenever Xlobby is launched using
the "Event->Startup" trigger. However, I don't think there is currently an
event command that will select a playlist. If you had that, you could create
an event as so:
music->playlist select (missing as far as I know)
music->shuffle
music->play

Maybe someone else can figure our a workaround for the missing command,
or you could ask Steven to add something like this.

I would think one of the best ways to do this right now would be to have all of your playlist music in a separate database, then have a startup screen that would trigger play on that particular database.
