Sneak Peak - XLobby Retro

Postby samgreco on Fri May 11, 2007 11:45 pm

So I am finally doing a new skin. My wife and I bought a fifties ranch house and decided to run with it. We've been remodeling and redecorated in a fifties vibe. So with that in mind, I figured that a skin on the touchpads to match made sense.

I just reworked the default skin with new graphics for now. I intend to finalize it when the new Xlobby gets a bit more stabilized.

But here are some screenies. Please let me know what you all think.

First thing I thought of is Miami Florida or Miami Vice, I like the font style it fits right in. And the colors fit the theme exactly.

Thanks guys. The colors are very 50s. In fact, the background is the Turquise-Blue Boomerrang Formica countertop that they just reissued and we just put in our kitchen.

I probably won't post the skin for a bit. There's a lot to do on the back end. And now that there is RS232 support, I can actually use it :)

I'm a slow learner.

Thanks. And WAF has ALOT to do with it.

The biggest problem I have with this is how to lay it out with using an outside matrix switcher for zoning. I won't be using Xlobby's zoning in it's usual sense.

I have a matrix switcher/preamp with 8 inputs and 10 outputs (zones). From my server I have 3 outputs from a sound card going to 3 inputs of the switcher. Then there's are 2 AM/FM tuners. That leaves 3 unused inputs.

So figuring out the "flow" of the skin is the highest priority and will ultimately make or break WAF and usability. Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm thinking that overlays are going to be really important :D.

sharp_1,

Thanks for asking. I put this on the back burner waiting for V3 of Xlobby. It's not complete at all. In fact, right now, it's really just a visual reskin of the default skin. Sort of a proof of concept.

I need to have control of an external switch for audio, so I have been waiting for 2-way RS232 for that.

If there's enough interest, I could be convinced to get a basic version out.
