4th Pre-Release Ready

Postby stevenhanna6 on Sun Jun 03, 2007 6:28 pm

This is the 4th pre-release, you'll have to forgive me I haven't been keeping the log file up very to date. There are fixes here and there as usual. I'll try to outline the major revisions of this build

1) DVD Copy plugin, lots of fixes here we've really been testing this one out and its very solid now

2) Graph files (GRF) for the dvd player (Media Player, in Setup), for now I have limited the graph files to the dvd player this is simply because I want to get this release out. I will end up adding graph file support to the non dvd player, then maybe even breaking it down more so you can assign a different graph to each player you create in a skin....but I'm not sure yet if I will. Right now there are 2 graphs though, one for "default" which basicly means "let windows build the graph" and the 2nd is for powerdvd....thats only because it's what I have on my system....we will add more graphs as we go. But graphs are pretty easy to create once you figure out graph edit (graphedit is used to create GRF files). Just drop your custom graphs in the "graphs" folder.

3) The new backend spider system called "direct" is available, this should provide for very fast search results. For now, the movies spider has been updated to this system....but I've also left the old "web" system in place. Inititally search results might seem inaccurate, that will only improve as we work on the system to improve the matching logic. The music direct spider sytem will be add within a couple weeks I would say.

This build expires July 6th, 2007

PS Apologies for not being on the forum very much, I'm just insanely busy with try to get to a solid release for CEDIA. I will be going to CEDIA with Wes and some other people from Calrad....we will be demoing off xlobby there. CEDIA Expo 2007 is being held in Denver, Colorado running from September 5-9th.....we will be posting more info once on that soon.

I just want to add, there are still a couple bugs in the dvd copy plugin we just noticed. So I will most likely have another pre-release this weekend that has those fixes. I'll also try to get the new playlist, music spider finished up for then, here is a work in progress shot of the playlist....as you can see we will have "up" "down" "delete" buttons next to each track. Its actualy a regualar category...but you can assign an image and an event to a column.

Steven, the white border in the direct spider screen looks alot better than the yellow, glossy one. i say go for that in the future...
This is great stuff. Good work!!

if you are using colums on a single cat how will it work with a remote or keyboard?

if you use seperate cats for delete, up and down you can cursor to them and select whill using a remote.

clicking on columns is still usefull but i think that for this use you need seperate buttons.

Hi Guys,

I'm really sorry in advance if I'm being dumb. However, how do you initiate a direct movie spider? I'm looking for the screen shown above (the godfather screen). I can't see how to get there. I'm using the default skin.

Thanks

It looks like the files need to be in unique folders - is this correct? For example, I had in my media folder:

file1.avi
file2.avi
file3.avi...

Putting these files in unique folders made a "spider" button option appear.

if you could add an easy way to toggle between the old / new players (winamp/theartertek/in built) i would probably use the pre releases more.

as it stands i would have to have two copies of my skin whith differant events....

Steven, just a thought as I haven't tried it yet...

After spidering where are the results saved? If its in the relevent database what happens after the database gets corrupted, we would need to start again. Wouldn't it be better to save the relevent info to a text file in the folder of the associated media, is that possible?

i hope plugins are aloowed in the cheepest paid version... :)

i knocked a plugin up ages ago to do this its called something like ximportexport, it dumps the "static" portion of the xml file in the same directory has the media, if anything goes wrong it can be reloaded into a clean empty database.

there is also a more complicated way of doing it writen by one of the xlobby france team, it lets you embed info in the coverart... i havent used it but it sounds very clever (mines a hack, but works) :)

Yes we will be doing that, it will be a simple xml file....I might even put the cover art in the xml file itself as text...because you can encode binary data to text. But not only for backup, but there are a lot of people that are putting there media on external hard drives and then bringing them to other locations where they have a xlobby running, so they want a way to easily move content around between different systems.

Yah I will be adding that also very soon, Wes has already brought it up with me for the people that don't want to use the internal player there must be an easy "checkbox" or something to switch it off.

It's one category with multiple columns, text columns can now be navigated to using a keyboard if the text column has an event assigned to it.

Sorry to say I wont make my weekend deadline for a new release, here's another screen shot of the new playlist (work in progress)

If I play a movie, it works great, full screen, etc. If I stop that movie and go back to watch another movie, I get an unhandled exception. I repeated this several times to verify. It doesn't matter if I have it set to full screen or not. I do NOT get this error if I set the DVD Graph to Cyberlink PowerDVD6+. I only get this if it's set to the default graph.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
