Worked the first time I tried. Multi-column provides lots of interesting possibilities. The song que says it all....Amazing!

Great job Steven.

Very cool idea - I'm excited about it.... sadly it doesn't work for me. All my audio is encoded as FLAC. While I did get lengths after a reimport they are all incorrect - examples:
.38 Special - Teacher, Teacher length=3:15; Xlobby length=7:57
AC/DC - Riff Raff length=5:58, Xlobby length=11:48:59

It took about 45 minutes at 100% CPU to import my 4000 track music collection (Althon 2600 mobile overclocked, 1GB ram).

I understand that parsing the length of the track is a great idea for those that have their audio as mp3's without worrying about them being properly tagged. But for those of us who spend a lot of time using EAC with our chosen encoder (Flac, MA, etc) and making sure our files our properly tagged it makes a lot more sense to pull the length from the ID3 tags (they will be correct and the import will be much faster).

Any chance of providing the option to pull length from the tag during import instead of calculating it? I hate to miss out on this cool new feature!

sagitaz - I'm guessing your audio are MP3 format? I'm under the assumption right now that my import took so long due to the fact that my tracks are FLAC. I'm importing off my server also.

thx,

Steve,

This isn't quite working for me...here are the details:

1) ALL of my files are .ape files ripped with Exact Audio Copy
2) MOST of my files have APEv1 tags (these import VERY quickly in both Xlobby and Tag & Rename). However the track lengths are not being imported for these files with the new xlobby2.exe.
3) SOME of my files are tagged with ID3v1. These import VERY slowly in Tag & Rename, and significantly slower in Xlobby. The lengths are being imported, but have the wrong value...some songs have duration of more than an hour, others 20-30 minutes, etc...I haven't seen any that actually have the correct track length

I haven't tried ID3v2 yet, but will do so. Are other tagging methods still supported?

have have the flac problem as well...

also, when you show multiple fields on the cat, sorting by them is the next obvoius thing....

but if you do this the next song is not updated to match the new ordering, so you jump off to a "random" looking bit of the playlist...

Just bumping this in case Steven has some time to revisit the issue of calculating lengths via ID3 tags for us FLAC folk.
