Quick Screen Swap

Postby fphredd on Fri Jun 13, 2008 1:06 pm

Is there any way to program a button or even keyboard shortcut to have XLobby switch from screen 0 to 1 or vice versa without going into F2 setup? I usually run it on the built-in touchscreen, but my wife oftentimes wants to use the plasma even to make a music selection (main use for the box-no Video other than surfing, etc.).

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I'm using an ATI graphics card... and I use the ATI Catalyst software to swap screens using hot keys when I play MAME games to display on my TV instead of touchscreen

Interesting...didn't think of the obvious of switching primary/secondary themselves. Would still prefer to just switch XLobby (even if it needed to restart), but you're suggestion would accomplish the basic need.

Thnx.

I am not sure if you can do it as you described, but note that the current switch screen function is basically an XL reboot. So no matter what you'd end up on your main menu screen which might not meet the WAF.

Perhaps you could accompish another way - use an XL client on the touchscreen such that it's always displayed on the touchscreen, and then have main XL pop up or minimize on your big plasma based on those available commands. That would work, although it would require some equipment reconfiguration.

Xlobby will not "hot swop" between monitors unless you can find a windows proggy to swop desktops - but then I guess they would need to be on the same resolution. I have a small utility that will close xlobby and change skin/monitor on xlobby restart which I map to my remote via girder. Happy to post it if you want - it's very rough but does the job. I have a similar setup with a built in 7" touchscreen and a 32" LCD.

if you have both screens set to the same resolution..

...you can use ultra mon to toggle xlobby between the two monitors (there is a hot key to do it ctrl-shift-n).

Thanks for the responses and suggestions.

Defrag, I'd ask for the utility but 1) I'd probably screw it up, and 2) From the sound of it I still need to hit something besides the touchscreen to get the switch done, correct?

1. :D Hey I screw it up and I wrote it :D
2. Yep! Although for me it makes sense, my lcd runs at 1360x768 and I have a custom skin for that res and the touchscreen runs at 1024x768 and runs a skin for big fingers. So I need to restart XLobby.

What skin are you using for touch screen?
