IR triggers

Postby vaporhat on Mon Jan 19, 2009 12:29 am

Need a little direction...

I am trying to get XL to receive an IR command an issue an RS232 command in response. Whats the best way to make this happen?

This is what I was trying but could not get it to work. Maybe I am going down the wrong path and don't know it.

I set up an IR device and learned the code. Tested / works.
set-up an event for the IR command and the RS232 command. Tested / works.
Then I was trying to use an IR Trigger, but with no success. Here is what I got..

where 'volume up' is the IR code and the event 'Vol Up' is the RS232 event

So under the Volume Up and Volume Down IR triggers, you have two RS232 events that are sending the correct strings or bytes to a RS232 port.

the 'Volume up' and 'Volume Down' are the IR codes, the 'Vol up' is the RS232 event. Did I get that backwards?

The Vol Up under events works by itself to trigger the RS232 command Volume Up. So If I understand you correctly the IR trigger is not communicating with the RS232 event thru xLobby in the trigger section. If this is the case then I can check this tomorrow at the office to see whats going on.

Wes, that's what's going on. The RS232 command is working on it's own and so is the IR. I can not get the trigger to work properly..
Thanks for looking into it for me.

no.. it didn't :( I am still having an issue. Although I need to make sure nothing was over written with the update. I thought everything would have been part of my skin but.. it's possible it wasn't. I need to make time to look at this further.

Hi Wes

I just tried to set this up in the newest v3 using this same method, and it doesn't work for me either

Testing the events work, testing the learned commands work, but they just won't trigger

Using a USB-UIRT

Thanks

Works now :D

Had to re-learn the ir commands as bursts, they must have been too short from the remote for XL to read them
