Hard buttons don't register in key code monitor on Axim x50v

It's sad for a computer guy, I must have the worst XL luck ever :wink:

Funny, the usb uirt is working very easily, thought that would present some challenge or at least effort, nope, but hard buttons, oh no!

I've tried a bunch of things and searched, but everyone seems to get hard buttons to work very easily. I'm getting no response in the setup window when trying to map them. I turned off/on the button event in the axim, tried the default skin, re-downloaded the executables, I'm stumped again. Has anyone got the buttons working on the axim? Thanks!

Just tried on my x50v - could not get it to work!!!

This is my first PDA and hence first try at the hard buttons. Maybe i am doing something wrong???

No I think based on your results and mine, and the fact that there are NO other 'wonder why my hard buttons don't work' posts, there's a problem with the x50v. also I tried on two different xlobby server machines.

I tried bringing up the small keyboard on the pda thinking maybe it would register a keypress but it doesn't (of course text shows up on the screen, just not registered in XL).

Vince (or anyone else having problems)

1 - Your servers.txt file needs to have 'bindbuttons' in it!!

server:192.168.0.52

bindbuttons:true
navigationpad:true

refresh:1000

Bindbuttons - stops the buttons on your ppc form doing what they should (ie open contacts) and associates them with xlobby.

navigationpad - bindbuttons does not bind the navigation pad.

I found that if i did not use the 'refresh' line then nothing happened (ONLY ON THE PPC) untill i tapped the screen (anywhere).

IE if you want a hard button to do something serverside then it worked instantly BUT if say you wanted a hardbutton to take you back to the main menu the ppc would not go back untill a screen tap (refresh).

Simon, thanks, I'll try that. I must be getting old, I know I've seen the bindbuttons line before and just spaced it. This should be added to the page with help for hardbuttons.
