Hi Jonathon,
I hope that I'm not too late for a little help on this. :D

I just started on this today & I must say, well done! I am having 1 small problem, though. On the forecast that allows for a set number of days, I've selected 5 days, but I can only get the info & images to display for the first 4, the last one is completely blank - all of the variables are correct, I've checked & double checked against the other 4 that are working. I've tried the latest build of Xlobby in conjunction with the last version of the plugin & no dice. Any ideas?

(Oh, & the weather location that I'm trying to get is Bend, Oregon 97701.)

think 5 days is including today so if you want the next 5 days u need to set the forecast for 6 days.

Thanks rubbah. That wasn't it, but it led me to what was the problem. I had my variables starting at 1 instead of 0, so it would start on the next day instead of today. Somehow it created a problem for that last day, but changing that fixed it.

on the advice of a top forum chap, i hear that xopweather is the one to have and works with colby skin.

I am a little new to this an d only having cracked playing a dvd from HD yesterday I want to crack the weather today if possible,

I have downloaded the plugin, put it into the plugins folder of xlobby, moved xweather into a subdirectory called original and then moved that enitre file to the desktop.

launch Xlobby F2 and the plugin shows but no data or nice graphics. Almost looks like i am not searching in the right place for the xml ??

HELP !

Hi Tony,

You will need to change the tags for each element on the weather screen from the old plugin to the new

There is a file in the xoap directory called variables that list all your options.
Some stay the same, but most change a bit.

plugin/xweather/...... so i guess i need to associate somehting higher up ???

Your version of my skin does still use the old plugin. Here is the new weather page. It should work better for you, since it now uses xoap. The fonts may be messed up because you dont have my resources in your skin yet.

copy and paste this xml page to your skins>Colbyskin>

Ah Colby thats just blown it. Not sure what has happened but xlobby is now stuck on loading screens for about 5 minutes with 3%CPU usage.

I rebooted the PC and re-launched same thing.

What i did was copied and pasted the xml page (ALL) into skins/colbyskin/weather.xml overwriting the existing stuff (was that correct ) if not do i reinstall colby skin ?

got rid of xweather and put XoapWeather folder in its place.

Any ideas ??

thanks

So i reinstalled the skin, replaced the plugin with xoapweather.

copied and pasted the source code of XML link above into weather and it broke again or at least hung on screens for ages. Replace the colbyskin weather.xml file and it loaded nicely again.

I think i am either copying it to the wrong folder or im stumped ??

thanksinadvance colby

Sorry I missed you I was making the new xml first. Its done. Im still in chat. Here is what you do.

download and overright the xml just as you did before. make sure you have the plugin properly installed in the plugin folder

Here is the detailed hibby skibby:
1. download the xoapweather plugin zip
2. unzip it and put the xoapweather folder into the plugins folder of the xlobby main directory
*there should be a dll file, a readme file, images folder, and examples folder and maybe sourcecode.zip all within the xoapfolder
3. You can delete the sourcecode and examples folder.
Add my new weather.xmlto your skins>Colbyskin directory overwriting the previous one
4. START Xlobby
5. Hit F2 to goto setup menu, select plugins tab.
6. choose the xoapweather from the list. and click configure.
7. Setup your configuration of your location and such by adding your local
8. choose US or metric for units, choose 6 day forcast
9. click save
10. Exit setup menu
11. Goto the weather page and enjoy!

The problem that you are having with Xl getting stuck on the splash screen is one that I know only too well. Look at the loading line and see where it is getting stuck, I bet it is when it is at screens.

XL seems to have a problem if you just drop a new xml file into the directory.
You will need to create one first inside XL, then exit and copy Colbys over.

But it still might not work!

When adding or updating a skin perform these steps.

1) Shut down Xlobby.

2) Make sure the ‘default’ Xlobby skin is in the skins directory.

2) Copy the new skin to the xlobby/skins directory

3) Delete the file //xlobby/xlobby.xml. This will force Xlobby to start with the default skin and settings.

4) Start Xlobby.

5) Press F2 to bring up the skin editor.

6) Click on the ‘Skins’ tab, select the skin and resolution and hit restart.

You will need to reset your set-up settings such as winamp location, libraries etc., but it should fix your porblem.
