can not suspend with Xlobby 3

Postby CaM on Thu Nov 26, 2009 8:16 am

hi all, if I load up xlobby 3 then my computer does not suspend after idle time.

If I exit xlobby 3 or run xlobby 2 then it does suspend.

Does anyone else have this issue?

thanks

This may have to do with some of the windows commands disabled by V3 - (like Alt+F4 for example.)
Steven? Wes?

mine does not suspend either, but then again i don't want mine too.
saves the time of spinning up the drives when you click on something.
instead my monitor goes black, but that comes back on in a flash if i hit the touchscreen.

i have straight XPsp3, so yea, same result here.

Hi, I have investigated the issue more and found that If I disable both my soundcards then I can suspend.

When I renable a card I can no longer suspend if Xlobby is running.

thanks

Hi, yep - I use mst.

It is a great tool.

Still, the issue seems to be related to PCI soundcards and Xlobby where as mst is generally for usb.

I can take a look at "mst" for my own machines, but for clients (and I've got a bunch of them out there) I prefer to only use hardware/apps/plugins, etc. that have been tested and "approved" by Wes and Steven - It's an issue of "reliability".

If my machine at home isn't working 100%, no problem, I can just re-install or "tinker" with it for a few minutes and get everything back to a "functional" level.

If I deploy a solution to 20 client machines at their homes and a bug shows-up, I've got to deal with frustrated users of 20 xLobby systems.

Much better for me (and for my clients) to only use "super-stable" updates.

Has anyone had any "issues" with mst?

Thanks, in advance, for any feedback.

i found it to be very useful, my htpc would not stay asleep.

i install it...
use it to tweek the usb entries that are waking the pc instantly from standby...
un-install it...

main bit is that you can remove it when its running the way you want.

hi, for usb related power issues - mst is hard to beat.

mst seems to read/write values from the registry so there isn't much to it.

I use the build in so I guess it's PCI right?

I still say, mst and enable debug and see exactly what is preventing it. -:)
just install, enable debug. Reboot. save log file, post here and then uninstall.
