SageTV for XL skin request

Postby Hiller on Tue Sep 07, 2004 12:51 pm

I'll put this out there for anyone but Colby seems bored or something so maybe he can take care of it for me....

What I would love is a skin that I can use to mimic the look of SageTV. This way, when I press my TV button from any other skin and Sage starts I can have a nice interface on my touchscreen remote.

I don't think it will be too hard but my photoshop skills are lacking...

Thanks,
Steve

How did you know I was bored?
Im not bored as much as I would rather contribute to XL with graphics. I already wrote 2 big document. Which was boring and I would rather spend my time "painting pretty pictures."

So are you willing to paint a mockup of the Sage look for me? That would give you some pretty picture time  and would make me a happy man!

Thanks,
Steve

if it was as easy as painting a look, I would. Making a skin is a LOT of work. I dont even use sage. But I am more than willing to make buttons.png that are the same as on sage and you can build the skin. Im not sure I exactly know what you need. There arent too many buttons and graphics sage.

That would absolutely work for me. I have already setup a lot of the Event Manager stuff so that it will all work with a crappy skin that I did with just a few buttons. If you could create the look, I can put it all together. I just can't paint the pretty pictures.

Steve and Colby,

Please share when you get this going. I've just started using Sage and it is great as a PVR. Other than that it's useless. So if I can marry XLobby to it, I'd be a real happy camper :)

Sam, that's my hope. It will basically be the next best thing to a plugin. Because Sage takes a ton of Sendmessages I figure with a skin that looks like the interface in Sage it will be pretty seemless. Once Colby has time to do that graphics it shouldn't take me too long to set it all up.

Steve,

Over on the Sage forums, chadwolcott posted his Sage/XLobby event group xml file here :

Maybe that will save you and me some time :)

Can someone go through how to add this event to xlobby through event manager? I copied the xml file into the eventgroup directory, and it shows in settings as sagetv, im just uncertain how to get it working.
I love sagetv and would love to be able to have it integrated to some extent with xlobby.

sled,

I haven't tried importing Chad's group into Xlobby. If I remember I'll give it a try tonight and see what happens.

SageTV support is built in to the latest release of the HeavyMetal skin. You can download the skin to see how it implemented. There are also some notes on how it all works in the readme file as well: http://www.xlobby.com/files/badabing/files/READ_ME/READ_ME_FIRST.htm
