Show us your menu screen.

Speak your mind

Well, I should have thought about something like that.
I bought two USB extionsion cords, i drilled two holes through the brick wall, put the cables through and finished it off with plaster. Looks OK, but not very professional. I might try making a steel front panel.

Persuading the wife wasn't all that hard, by the way. I mentioned I would like a kitchen-radio. OK, she said. Then I said a TV in the kitchen would be cool. She agreed. Then I bought a touch monitor and waited for an afternoon with spare time and no wife in the house and I drilled a huge hole in the wall in which I installed the monitor. The PC, NAS, Modem and cables are in the meter cupboard behind the kitchen wall. And of course a sub-woofer under the stove.

yepper
picked it up on ebay for $200
what a STEAL !!!!!!

it's used and has a scratch or 2, but for that money, who cares.
I got microsoft to send me a stripped down developer version of xp so it runs great!!!!
only 20% cpu utilization. which is good for only a 1ghtz machine.

i currently use the Q1 for control of the first floor thru wireless, but have a wired corner if i need to plug in.
i use a full client v3 in mimic mode. takes care of all my video's and music on the different zones.

because of the screen resolution, i had to redesign the skin for touchscreen.
the default v3 has very small buttons as far as touch screens are concerned.
so after alot of new overlays, i'm all set.

works great!!!

Here's my menu and main music screen. I run this xl on an 17 "in-wall touchscreen in our kitchen. My main objective was to make the skin clear, simple and easy to use as my wife uses the computer as well and i don't feel like helping her out everytime she wants to play some music or do anything else. I like to believe I succeeded.

I like what you have done here. One suggestion if you don't mind but have you thought of using a keystone wallplate for the usb connectors: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10517&cs_id=1051703&p_id=1099&seq=1&format=2
I assume they have the usb inserts for them.

I love the idea of having the usb connectors right there at the monitor, wish I would have thought of that :D

I really like your setup...good job!!!

Such a very amazing link!
Thanks you for the post.

Lets see if we can revive this thread some. Here is the menu screen I have been using for a little while now. Skin is a work in progress to say the least. Radio was shoutcast...maybe I will take a up programming and try and fix that...I barely have time to work in this skin so probably not! Would like to add Pandora to the radio piece but I have not gotten that far yet. Everything is controlled by a Harmony Remote, USB_UIRT and Event Ghost. Wife can work it so I consider it a success for now.

I was never all that good at creating new skins but got decent at editing existing skins. This one started from the base free skin that Steven created now (what) 10 years ago.....
