i have client running, but cover art is blank

hey,
i have client running on v3, which is a full version install running as a client on my Q1 samsung.
xnet connects and i have all my data, movies and music.

the issue i have is only with the covers, i have the correct number of covers, but they are blank
i have 10 movies in my database, so i have 10 blank covers.
same goes for music, all blank cover art.

what configuration needs to be done to display the cover art.

**music**
no problem, i can choose a zone and it plays on the server zone.
it's a bit off, cause one zone gets added for the q1 client, then the other server zones get added.
so on the client i have one zone of the client, and the 3 server zones.
the 3 server zones were active, i was able to play music, but when i tried to use the q1 tablet zone, no sound.
yet i can hear all the beeps of the menu on the tablet speakers as i scroll up and down

is there some kind of rough guide that can put us on the right track when configuring a client.


**video**
smooth, i play the video on the tablet client, and it gets displayed on the server.
in the media player of the tablet, the video screen is blank when the video is playing.
i'm happy to say the 16:9 ratio button works on the client, telling the server to play in that format.

as i plug thru the client, going thru the different menu options, the server screen is changing to what i am choosing.
I like it, for now, i'm the only one using it so it's ok.

so over all, great speed with client.
quick responce to music being played, same with video.

issues - no cover art, and no video playing on the client tablet, and client default zone has no music (if it's even possible)


i hope this helps in the trouble shooting department.

If u don't want mimix, then remove the checkbox under alt-F2 xnet.


Coverart:
Try to copy all the content in the xlobby\cache from the server to the client.

i went into media player play event, the server event checkbox is already unchecked.

You're in the right place. I haven't tried in a few versions so maybe steven changed the behaviour. Who knows. There's no documentation at all!
Before the video played on the client if the server box wasn't ticked. If ticket it played on the server

i also made a quick batch file that copies the cache directory on the server to the client, then starts xlobby.
i shared the xlobby directory for easy access. works good, this way i always have the latest and greatist coverarts.
now i'll work on checking the file size first, if size is different, then copy, else leave alone.
As for the documentation, i feel your pain!

go back 5 versions of V3 and see if it did change in behaviour.

for copy use this. Only copy what is changed....(replace path of course)

xcopy "y:\mp3" "d:\mp3" /E /C /H /R /Y /D

i wasn't able to test it yet, but i was re-thinking if i even want to do that.
My Q1 is running wireless, and i don't know if i want to stream to it. the streaming video might lag my Q1. what do you think?
does anyone else run video over wireless?

Bill, I run video wireless to a laptop pretty close to an AP. Compressed video works fine. AVIs stutter.

yea, i might just remove the window in the media player that playes the video alltogether.
this way i can fit all the buttons nicely on the screen, bigger buttons for touchscreen.
my screen is only 800x480 on the q1 so real estate is hard to come by.

but i still want to run my video first just to test it out.
how do you get your video working on your wireless. are you running a client?

V2 fat client.
Still cannot video to play on monitor one on my single V3 machine. Maybe V3 doesn't like the mon's native res which is oddball. Had it right after I reset ATI's CCC to factory default but it was very small. Then poof when I altered it.
Anyway, wireless works for me so long as it's standard-def DVD. Haven't tried HD.
