Free graphics suite for skin editing?

Postby P3rv3rt B3ar on Tue Jan 02, 2007 6:11 am

Now and then theres some minor editing i need to do for my skin, things for which ms paint really aint adequate. When it comes to graphics i cant really do anything, so i have no need for expensive graphics suite. But i would still need somekind of graphics software to perform stuff, which even i can do.

I know theres software called paint shop pro which is really my caliber, and also on suitable prize range. But i was just wondering, until i have change to grab it, is there some suitable freeware graphics software which i could just download and use to perform some simple tasks...

Try Gimp. It lacks some of the "polish" and features of Photoshop, but is a pretty good, free graphics editing tool. Originally created for using within Linux, it has found its way to Microsoft machines.

It's a large step up from using MS paint that is for sure.

Hope this was helpful.

I find that Gimp has most of the functionality of Photoshop. At least the basic features are mostly there. Some photoshop tutorials are even followable on the Gimp if you do a little translation of tool names from one program to the other.

Hope this helps,
Brian

You can also try Paint.Net
http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html
or you can look for Deep Paint 2 that was given away when Right Hemisphere decided to discontinue it.

Just adding another mention of GIMP. I've just knocked up a pretty good 'photos' logo to match the videos logo in Naylia's skin. It's quite nice to use but some commands aren't where I'm used to them being.
