Help with PPC....Please

Postby acemt01 on Wed Jan 28, 2004 3:20 am

I have finally broken down and decided to try this whole PPc thing. I have a Toshiba e740 that after an hour or so was able to connect to the internet.

I have installed the framework, enabled server mode, and copied the two files to the PPC that are stated in the read me, and edited the servers.txt file to the appropriate server:ppcmenu.

when I double click on the xlobby2sd.exe I get:

1. connect error Class: Clientsystem.Net.Sockets.socketExemption:Could not find Resource assembly

&

2. No servers.txt found

I have these two files in one folder so I don't understand why it would say it can't find this file.

Any help would be appreciated. I know there is someone out there with a lot more brains than me.

servers.txt must be servers.txt

it cant be

Servers.txt
Servers
servers.TXT
server.txt
Server.txt

you get the idea....it has to be servers.txt and in THE SAME folder as xlobby2sd.exe

thanks Steven,

never could get it to work. Don't know why. I gave up! I wasn't really to excited about the ppc thing anyway. Too much hassle. I'll wait for tablet priceds to come down:-0

Tablet

I just started fooling around with Xlobby and a tablet. I know there are a number of resolution options; can we have one that deals with the tablet portrait mode? ie 768x1024

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can have any resolution you want, just some skins might not look correct on odd ones, but that's easily fixed by the editor. Try it out and tell us what happens. hehe. Good luck!

Or am I missing something

The custom resolutions are to tell xlobby not to run at the current resolution but at the one you set in custom.

IE My xlobby htpc (no mouse or keyboard) outputs to my TV at 800X600 but my main computer (the one i do all the editing on) runs at 1280X720.

If i design a skin on the main one and trasfer it to the htpc things get squashed so I set the resolution to 'custom' 800X600 and it displays at 800X600 on the main computer - not full screen.

Launch xlobby then pick a lower resolution than you are currently running and hit the set button to see what i mean.

It is actually very handy if you are playing around with other programs at the same time - ie Girder. Xlobby acts more like a windowed app so you do not have to keep minimizing.

Later
Simon.
