changing mkv subtitles from within XL

hey
has anyone interfaced with MKV files directly from XL, specifically being able to turn on and off subtitles, or change audio language, etc.
i am useing Haali Media Splitter to play my files. inside Haali i configured specific audio tracks to play specific subtitle tracks, but sometimes the files are not coded correctly and i'm stuck, like if the japanese audio track has the english language in it.

What i did was, if the file has an audio of JAP, i default to english as my subtitle.
and if english is the primary audio track, i turn off subtitles.
that is all fine and dandy, but is there a way to access these parameters thru XL?

i deal with thousands of Anime, and needless to say they are not always coded correctly.
