DT Research DT366

Postby oakoen on Fri Aug 27, 2010 5:33 pm

It's been quite some time since I have played around with XLobby. I had to venture out and try some others to truly understand that this is the path for me. I would like to start by saying this forum is great! Now a few questions.

1) Does anyone use a DT366? I think it looks perfect for a touch remote. Cheap too.

2) Can I create two folders on thin client with two separate sets of servers.txt files and exe's to connect to two XL servers?

3) Do you know how far you can run a USB-Uirt external emitter cable?

4) I am just starting to play with spiders. I can get all info from imbd but plot. I am using http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6698&hilit=imdb#p47635. Any ideas. I have combed the forums, but do not have my head fully around spiders to understand why I cant get the plot to pull down.

Thanks for any help.

Looks good to me:

2) Can I create two folders on thin client with two separate sets of servers.txt files and exe's to connect to two XL servers? Yes

3) Do you know how far you can run a USB-Uirt external emitter cable? Extending the unit 10-12 ft. will work fine anything past this and the unit will not operate due to the USB-UIRT needs 5 volts and plenty of current to operate. USB active extenders will not work either. The best solution is to use a IR repeating system.

I have combed the forums, but do not have my head fully around spiders to understand why I cant get the plot to pull down. Spiders are tricky to write and control using Regular Expressions to get information from websites. They are subject to constant changes from the webmasters of these websites. How do you plan to use this as a remote? I have a similar device running CE, but could only use it to remote desktop to my media pc. When I logged off with the CE device my media pc would go to a login screen. I want it to look untouched.

I run the DT366 as a thin client sending IR commands from the XLobby server. SLOW.

In an attempt to overcome the speed issue, I plan on using xsend/xrecieve to send commands. If I can ever get a minute or two to sit down and work on it.

http://xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6706&p=47676&hilit=xnet#p47670 should get you going in the right direction.
