Internal Audio Player & IP Radio

Postby smarty on Thu Apr 24, 2008 6:26 pm

For some reason I cannot connect to most of the IP radio station (I am using the latestes Xlobby 2.0 build ver:2.0.8110.2 ).

As an experiment, I tried to connect to the stations using Winamp directly. I was unsucessful until I upgraded to the newest free release of Winamp.

I wonder if the internal audio player needs some updating?

IPradio is ok here but ipradio2 has one active station as far as I can see.

I just checked 3 xLobby machines here and they all work fine. Shoutcast would not change there streaming format as this would create major issues for them and all there partners. :D

Just for clarification of what I am seeing with most of the IP radio stations....

I get the message: "Could not connect...busy" when I try to connect.

Maybe it is just a south Texas, TimeWarner Road Runner issue???

OK. I see some of those. I think those servers have reached their simultaneous connections capacity.

Good point Jay, this is true when a group of servers reach there bandwidth capacity they will not except anymore connection requests.

All OK here - free and latest v2. I did a random pick of stations using my xliveshout browser plugin and a few did report as full (cross checked with winamp) but my plugin does report the usage stats as supplied by the shoutcast site, so it can give you a visual representation on free stations. All the main stations were fine.

Smarty.
Did a check on all 12 ipradio stations at 7am today (I'm near Philly on Comcast, btw).
The following 5 are busy: Jazz, Comedy, Oldies, Classical Rock and Country.

Is that pretty much what you're seeing?

Jay,
I checked the stations again just now (from work) this time. I was NOT able to connect to Jazz, Comedey, Oldies, Classic Rock and Country :(

Exactly the same ones you have issues with!!!

Since the stations that I have issues with seem to change, it doesn't appear to be an Xlobby item.

Agreed. It's Calrad's fault. We've overloaded ShoutCast with XL users.
I use Defrag's Shoutcast plugin anyway :)

Wes

I can confirm that the internal player will not connect to some streams. I've monitoring this over the past few days and there is an issue.

some examples:
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast ... lename.pls
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast ... lename.pls
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast ... lename.pls

These are not overloaded by users and load happily in winamp, internal player just reports busy.
