Recipies, MealMaster

Postby lar282 on Mon Apr 04, 2005 11:41 am

Hi
Created a converter from Mealmater recipies to a xlobby database.

Also created screens in xlobby to show u how it can look.

right now I got over 9999(Xlobby wont show more!!!) recipies. Kind of cool.

The converter takes ALL .txt files in the same dir as the exe and converts all of them to ONE xlobby database. I included all the txt files I have in the zip.

Possible enhancement

Postby rhitt on Tue Apr 05, 2005 8:02 pm

Would it be possible outside of a plugin to make the number of portions or yield adjustable? Say if a dish serves 10 to have the ability to reduce the portions to 5 and have the ingridents reduced like it does say in MediaPortal...

This would have huge WAF in my house.

I dont think its possible. MediaPortal has sqllite databses and I think they are easier to manipulate in that way.
Anyway I cannot do it, but the source code for MP:s recipies is free so anyone can take alook at it.

Love the idea as our touchscreen with Xlobby is a few steps away from the kitchen. I have a few problems adding this to baddabing's skin I am using (and love!)
I downloaded the recipe files and placed them the BONG skin folder, and the eventgroup folder.
I ran the file to convert the text files into the MealMaster xml file.
I ran skin editor and added a button to goto recipies (as it is spelled) and it will take me to a new screen with a few buttons missing (i guess these are not in the BONG skin).
My problem is, when I place the MealMaster xml into the BONG skin folder, xlobby stops loading at SCREENS.
If i put the mealmaster xml into teh eventgroups folder, i don't see any recipes at all.

So I can navigate to the new recipes screen, but nothing appears.
Can you tell me exactly what I have to do as far as assigning events, possibly copying buttons from 1 skin to the skin I use, where the MealMaster xml belongs?

Thanks!!!!

Great.
I was able to get it working perfectly using the newest default skin of Steve (same as in your screenshots).
Still can't get anything to work in the baddabing skin, so I guess i need some other buttons/filters/ etc. which I pretty much don't understand at all at this point
Thanks so much for the help!!!

category>MealMaster>Ingridients
category>MealMaster>Ingridients2
Category: %MealMaster>Category% Yield: %MealMaster>Yield%

Thanks for the assistance!!!

However, I tried to run the converter on the same machine as I did the old one and get a windows exception error with no xml being produced.

Also, into which file do I place this overlay code??
the overlay screen that shows the ingridients for the recipies:

category>MealMaster>Ingridients
category>MealMaster>Ingridients2
Category: %MealMaster>Category% Yield: %MealMaster>Yield%

THANKS !!!!

Well I redownloaded the files in a clean directory and was able to build the XML file just fine.
So I'll play with where to insert the category code and see how it comes out.

Can people point me to a link or can they upload it somewhere?

GForce,

I'm not aware of too many sites that have individual MealMaster recipes for download, most are grouped in "cookbooks" of similar recipe types. As it looks like the converter is no longer available I've gone a different direction to get recipes into XLobby. I did some looking and found an application called Gourmet Recipe Manager that will import MealMaster recipes as well as MasterCook recipes and can export recipes in it's own XML format. From there I wrote a script that will convert all the individual XML recipes and write everything to one XLobby recipe database. It's not pretty but it works.
