Show us your menu screen.

Speak your mind

Show us your menu screen.

Postby Jay on Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:38 pm

I finally went to a bunch of icons instead of buttons and sub menu buttons. I recall this caused a bit of a stir when Wes posted one of Calrad's installer's menu screen early this year or late last year.
Wes also posted his main menu which had only a few icons but tailored to family member submenus.

So let's see what you have :)

I couldn't decide on better interface, so I made 4 :-) 1 for each member of the family...

after the logon,

depending on who logged on, you get own menu; this is the 1st, most complex one. It has entries for each category, and by going left/right other options for that category:

Then there's one with audio controls only (wife almost never plays movies on her own):

and the one for kidś:

and another one, with one button only, only basic menu items, which i don't use much :-)

Hi,

Here's my menu and main music screen. I run this xl on an 17 "in-wall touchscreen in our kitchen. My main objective was to make the skin clear, simple and easy to use as my wife uses the computer as well and i don't feel like helping her out everytime she wants to play some music or do anything else. I like to believe I succeeded.

I like what you have done here. One suggestion if you don't mind but have you thought of using a keystone wallplate for the usb connectors: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10517&cs_id=1051703&p_id=1099&seq=1&format=2
I assume they have the usb inserts for them.

I love the idea of having the usb connectors right there at the monitor, wish I would have thought of that :D

I really like your setup...good job!!!

Or this:

Since though there most likely isn't a box , the he might be able to use something like this:

Lot's of options. I agree to, nice work.

That will be a future project...to convince the wife that we need a system in the kitchen...with touch screen, and BB's booze database readily on hand...modified with a "stress" event that will mix the drinks and depending on how "stressed" you are, will add the proper amount of alcohol to numb that stress temporarily. :D
