category flow... settings for a...

Postby alamata on Sat Apr 21, 2007 8:34 am

hey :)

i would like use the "category flow display"
in other category that music category like in the default skin...

per example i would like use the category flow display
to a category called menu

i have a database called menu
with a %display%... the name (movies, music...)
with a %cover% for each item

...

i make a text zone with

category>menu>display>2
category>menu>cover>2

for the %cover% it s ok
its showing the cover of the item+2

but not for the %display%
its showing the display of item+0

...

something wrong?
any ideas?....

is it a true method
to have a category flow display...

thanks for your comprehension...

Actually, Rika was giving some conceptual points of view that he would have like to have implimented. Those screen shots are not actually functional as he generated them in graphic editing software (Fireworks I think).

The only one on that thread that has actually implimented fades (and only in the menu system) was Defrag.

I have not tried the menu fades so I don't quite know how he has done it...though now it has sparked my interest for the current skin I'm working on.

I only managed that functional menu using the menu scroll right category layout and lots and lots of mucking about with sizing. As far as I'm aware you can only do a vertical menu with the menu scroll right layout, you can't offset the menu items to get that nice curved effect that Rika has in his mock-up. I never thought about using the cover flow with other categories - now I know what I'm doing tonight!!!

Just had a play with this, and it appears that you can only have the cover as a flow item - not any other category variable. Sounds like a candidate for a feature request to me!!!

first
i would like to say thanks a lot
for the answers :D

and sorry for my poor english
i dont have understood that was a presentation of conceptual point of view...

for the settings for a category flow, the subject of this thread,
i have the same conclusion that Defrag
it appears that you can only have the cover as a flow item - not any other category variable. Sounds like a candidate for a feature request to me!!!

indead, that is maybe a good idea to implement this freature ...

the curved effect of rika will be possible to obtain with this freature

every entries of the displayed category could be placed everywhere
with his characteristics (ie color font scale offset...)

this freature can open new skinning way ...

that can be nice...
