USBUIRT to control satellite receiver

Postby yotd on Sat Feb 07, 2004 10:17 pm

Hello,

What I want to do is change the channel on my satellite receiver using my USBUIRT. Basically a PC interface that simulates the remote control for the sat receiver. Will Xlobby by itself do the job, or is Girder also required?

If xlobby can do it, what build supports the USBUIRT? I setup the Alpha39a but I can't figure out how to use the USBUIRT (and how it learns the codes for changing the channel, etc.)

Thanks for any help,
TomD

yotd,

You can do this directly from the experimental (rel. 40) version of xlobby, or do it via girder from the previous versions. It seems that rel. 40 is not quite ready for production use, so perhaps you might consider the girder route with rel. 39. Plenty of people here will give you tips if you need assistance in setting up the xlobby/gider/usbuirt configuration. It as fairly straight forward, as I was able to do it.
