Any PVR from Hauppauge should work with Xlobby. Look at the heavymetal skin. It has Sage TV support now. Sage TV support the whole line of Hauppauge cards including the 350 (the difference between the 250 and the 350 is the FM portion...), so it will work with Xlobby

no he is talking about using the svideo output on the 350 to his tv, its not a normal tvout as we know it....in fact I think it only outputs a mpeg video...you cant even show the windows desktop with it.

Open mouth - insert foot....

You're right. I have never tried the Svideo output from my 250 - so I don't know the end result.

If the question means you're thinking of getting a 350, I would advise against. I've got one, and its.....not quite as stable as I would like. (severe case of noobie-rushed-in syndrome)

250 seems to have a very good reputation.

The question of stability is an interesting one concerning the 350.

Are you talking about the problems with the card and Sage, when it outputs the GUI through the S-video socket?

Other than that I thought the card was fine. Mine has been perfect. I am about to have a go with the GUI and see.

I'm new to Xlobby, but dig it already. I don't currently have a TV card (I pipe my cable stream at 1080i to the PC via firewire/VLC), but would like to use the functionality of the TV card for SD programming and radio.

I was considering the 350 for this reason. Since this capability is still in-work in Xlobby, should I wait to find out which way Xlobby is going to go (as far as hardware is concerned)?

I'd really like to accept the HD/VLC stream into Xlobby somehow, but I know this is a pretty obscure solution and doesn't really have wide appeal. It'd be wonderful if someone would make an HD card that was seamless with Comcast/QAM, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Edgely

My experience stems from recording 157 vhs films to mpeg2. In the end, I worked out that if I quit the hauppauge wintv app after every film, I would only need to reboot every couple of days.

If wintv was left running, it would end up hanging the pc, usually half-way through recording a film.

Looking at other forums, I was left with the impression that the issue was more to do with the 350 card / drivers than with wintv, horrible tho that may be in comparison with a good pvr package.

Now that i can get digital tv (dvb-t), and I've got all the vhs films I want onto hard drive, the whole issue is more or less history.

As to radio capture - that was the reason I bought the 350. Uk dvb-t pipes all the stations I'm interested in, so I don't need that either!

PS _ Why did I use wintv? - most pvrs are dependent on an EPG, which was not what I needed for my purpose at the time.

If you need them, according to the Sage forum, the most stable drivers (and the ones that I use) can be found at ftp://shspvr.com
