xLobby Ver 3.0 Multi-Zone Audio Products

Postby wesblack on Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:04 am

This area will be used for xLobby Ver 3.0 Multi-Zone Audio supported products, including xLobbys ability to deliver multi-zone audio on its own. Below is what we will have integrated into Ver 3.0 for additional Multi-Zone audio products either by RS232 2 way or by IR control.

Wes - will it be difficult to rework this driver for other brands? Like Xantech, etc. If it's just plugging in the RS232 codes, piece of cake :)

Samreco,

Yes we will be able to easily add other manufactures to xLobby Ver 3.0 because we will have a solid RS232 2 way communications service running in the core of the software. We currently sell component products to Xantech and have a long relationship with them. I can definately see some integration with there multi zone audio video devices with xLobby in 2008.

PhilB,

I am aware of sonance products as we attend the same trade shows and I knew of them when the only products in there line were just speakers. They are now part of the speakercraft, linear companies. I looked on there website for details on the RS232 communications commands and there multi-room units can be controlled in xLobby Ver 2.0 or 3.0, but xLobby Ver 3.0 will be able to get the status of the units functions.

My bad. I should have been more specific. I only use their multiroom amp, the DB1. Here is the link:

It has worked well for me and supports 2 way RS-232.

Rika,

Nice job, cool idea. I have this piece in my house and it has worked for years with no issues. There is so much on our plate with Ver 3.0 to do but I will not forget your post regarding this concept. :)

Thanks,

Hi Rika,

I have used that exact thing for about 2 years now, even though its a really neat way to get multizonal controllers for next to nothing, the low speed & low quality of those really cheap X10 products makes it tricky to use sometimes and very bad for GAF. Hence the move to Russound hardwired pads

Wes, can you clear up something about the Russound comms?

In the current v2.0, there is only send strings to the CAV/CAM system. Will v3 be fully bi-directional?

Will XLobby be able to interact with all the actions on the Russound keypads?

Yes xLobby Ver 3.0 will have a service that runs in the background that will provide full 2 way communication with Russound. The whole idea behind Ver 3.0 is that we can create diggerent services that will run in the background to talk to virtually any RS232, IP, USB deivice. Yes you will be able to interact with the keypads you could use them to control different events in xLobby or to speak to lighting services thru xLobby.

Example,

Use the F1, F2 keys on the Russound to control lighting or source or turn on a water foutain or other external devices, etc. I hope you get the idea.

Don't think you can detect when the F1 and F2 keys are pressed on an Uno keypad.
