no start after importing large music library

Postby dXtr on Fri Apr 23, 2004 6:45 am

Just installed xlobby and I am very excited to get it working. I haven't done much with it yet, but I'm having an issue with my MP3s after import.

I just imported a large music library (6500 files) ... when I close and re-open xlobby, it hangs at "Loading: Databases".

Any wisdom for a noob? Thanks!

I had the same problem too, it seems to be caused by some in-correctly formated ID3 tags, the way to clear it up is quite tedious, you need to delete the existing database and import smaller chunks of files at a time, until you discover which directory or song is causing the problem... No fun for large collections like ours... May be someone else has a better solution?

first try the latest prerelease

http://www.xlobby.com/xlobby2pre11.zip

if your already using that...can you zip up and send me your \databases\music.xml file...I will take a look and post a fix if I can find the bug.

this ended up being caused by bad ID3 tag data ... specifically wierd characters in the 'year' field of one album.

workin' like a charm now.

thanks Steve for hunting this down!
