Accessories: Remote controle, easy useful manual, bracket, CD disc for drive, touch pen and cables

The only thing that would scare me would be the "touch pen"...not sure if that means it wont work with the finger tip or not???

The pen looks like a plastic part. No battery so probably not required for use but it does not say hich type of touch panel they use so not positive.

Actually after looking up what a resistive touch panel is I think you'll be fine. GREAT FIND!!!

Resistive

A resistive touch screen panel is composed of several layers. The most important are two thin metallic electrically conductive and resistive layers separated by thin space. When some object touches this kind of touch panel, the layers are connected at certain point; the panel then electrically acts similar to two voltage dividers with connected outputs. This causes a change in the electrical current which is registered as a touch event and sent to the controller for processing. When measuring press force, it is useful to add resistor dependent on force in this model -- between the dividers.

A resistive touch panel output can consist of between four and eight wires. The positions of the conductive contacts in resistive layers differ depending on how many wires are used. When four wires are used, the contacts are placed on the left, right, top, and bottom sides. When five wires are used, the contacts are placed in the corners and on one plate.

4 wire resistive panels can estimate the area (and hence the pressure) of a touch based on calculations from the resistances.

Resistive touch screen panels are generally more affordable but offer only 75% clarity[citation needed] (premium films and glass finishes allow transmissivity to approach 85%[citation needed]) and the layer can be damaged by sharp objects. Resistive touch screen panels are not affected by outside elements such as dust or water and are the type most commonly used today.

Ordered on Saturday - received on Wednesday.

Installed and calibrated without a hitch. Working perfectly. Easy to select buttons with just a finger press. Highly recommended!!!

I'll try to post some pictures soon.

Posted some additional pictures under "My Home Theater" section.

I am very pleased with the performance of this touchscreen.

Nice setup Bill. Are you using xLobby to control your cable STB too? or just the remote.

Great to hear good news about the touchscreen!!!

Bill,

That looks really sweet, you did a great job.

2 questions:

1. What res. are you running on that?
2. Do you need to use the stylus or can you just use your finger?

Thanks,

Thanks for the kind words.

I was running at 1024 x 768 and the screen looked great - but have gone back to 800 x 600 to make the windows icons larger. I'm just using my finger with xLobby but when I open stuff in Windows it's hard to close the windows in full screen as the corners are hard to get to with my finger.

I'm currently controlling everything from xLobby using the Homeseer plug-in for lighting and US-UIRT for the IR stuff.

Bill-
Did you know you can make the windows icons larger using Microsoft's TweakUI program?
Then you could maintain the higher resolution.
