Howto Keep Buttons ontop of Webbrowser?? - BUG?

Postby smarty on Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:31 pm

I am wondering if there is a way to keep buttons (browser scroll up and scroll down) ontop (think new layer but different) of the webrowser that is being displayed. Can this be done?

I want to keep displaying the web content that is in the browser window, but I want to be able to put buttons ontop of this content that have events and actions that control the url they are ontop of....

Ideas??

I suppose you could just pop an overlay with the buttons on it. Use a transparent background for the overlay and this should work fine.

I believe I tried what you said....

I made a screen with control buttons on it. I set the screen background to "none". This would then become my overlay screen.

From my web browsing screen, I made a button that ran the event "show overlay new layer".

Results:
However, the area where my web broswer was is now just white (the web content does not show through the newly opened layer).

Is there another way to do this?

It is not possible to overlay any graphics or buttons on a webbrowser element and see them work outside of the skin editor. :(

I never got it to work properly either. Some webpages steals focus and XL looses the focus. If one only have a remote it just doesn't work
Steven fixed it so it worked alittle better a few months back, but still not ggod.

the way i got round it was to use an overlay like someone said....

but i had a plugin take a screenshot of xlobby BEFORE the overlay is shown, then i show the "snapshot" as a faded overlay background.

a bit hacky, but it does work.

That is a unique idea......but no luck for the application I have in mind. :(

In my case, the controls are for moving around on the page (and, the page is displaying "live content" like my security cams).

Hopefully the a "web overlay" can be eventually added in the future.
