Googling "meal recipes" seems to yield a lot.

yea there are alot of online ones, the hard part is getting a data dump of all the recipies.
if i can get a dump of one of those databases, i can create the xml file.

if you happen to get one in excel, or even a text file, let me know and post it up, i'll take it from there.

yea i looked at those meal master files.
the problem with those are they are not structured. meaning it will be nearly impossible to import those with a high degree of acuracy.

if those txt files were delimited, then it would be a snap. but since they are in paragraph form, they are no good.

i'll see if i can create a little parser to get the info i need from the MM files. but i'm not making any promises, lol.

****edit*****
i found the xml file it came with, interesting.
i can play with that.
nice !!!!!

And there is apparently a "meals" xml variant.

This might get a bit dicey. I see where some of the larger sites also allow you to scale the recipe to a number of servings.
And that makes a lot of sense.

i wish xlobby could pull from database files instead of xml text files. would make things so much easier.
looks like tonight i'll be making recipies for a nice front end.

this is something the wifey should love, lol
so hopefully i won't be bothered when i start it !!!!!!

hey marbles,

you don't happen to have that plugin in your archives somewhere do you?
and why would you need a plugin if you already have a database?

i figured, if you have the database, all you need to do is create a category and some overlays that point to the database.
