Thanks for the info. Didn't know these products exist. I suppose I could find something similar in Canada.

Any info on product names? technical names or the like. Something I could do a search on would be appreciated.

I am in the same boat as the others in this thread. I have 2 strands of cat5e and 2 strands of coax (Tivo) run to each room in the house. If I can use one of the Cat5e to distribute speakers without pcs all over the house, that would be "smashing". ;)

Based on jlcrawford's idea, I found a few USB to CAT5 converters here in the states:

Although, the cheapest I could find so far is about $100 US.
