Digital 5.1 & RCA analog audio output

Postby vaporhat on Mon Aug 04, 2008 8:10 pm

Currently I have only analog 3.5mm-> RCA audio from my HTPC split into my receiver and whole house amplifier.
This is fine for my music although I would like to use XLobby for my DVD playback and I would like to have a pass though 5.1 signal from my HTPC into my receiver.

Is this possible to accomplish with a hardware solution?

I was thinking about using this:

Setting my HTPC to output a Coax digital audio signal:

end 1 ) to an RCA splitter -> DAC (linked above) -> my whole house amplifier
end 2) directly to my 5.1 receiver

Will this even work? Will I get an simultaneous audio signal though the RCA splitter?

I forgot all about these.. I wanted to use these to create audio zone anyway..

Will these solve my problem? and would I still be able to use the COAX digital output of my sounds card?
