Tell all: how do YOU customize YOUR xlobby?

hey hey,
i've always been working on customizing my screens.

now i have this as my primary background on the secondary component out tv, simple windows background image i made.
so by default this image shows on the plasma while i am thumbing thru the touchscreens looking for a movie to play.


part 2 for this is to play a small video clip before the actual movie.
sort of like a trailer before the main movie. I'll make a small video of the image above, have the sun come up from behind the earth, white out the screen, then have text show up saying

ENJOY THE SHOW (then the movie will play)
i want to customize my Home theater to seem like a REAL theater.

at least this will be temporary until they release the HAL sound theme, then i'll have the big red eye.

It's a dream one day to be able to find time to actually get round and set up my xlobby but at the moment i'm having too much fun skinning finishing off HAL (Xlobby 9000, very close now) and messing around with other ideas...the amount of skins i have started and then ditched...well

Oh and i'm that pissed at trying to get smooth blu-ray without stutter every 2 secs its taken the shine off things so to speak.

Yes, used that site...the good thing is if u want to go to town with HAL sounds its easy to add to the skin by the end user.

Animations...Steven/Wes are sorting that out, blinking lights and what not...i will then integrate them into the skin, send it to Wes to test out and then baring any tweaks it will get released to V3 users.

ahhh, animated gifs.
yea i was wondering, like when i do flash programming, i have animations of objects floating in the background to give it a 'moving' effect. bars and boxes, and stars, etc.
i wasn't sure how xlobby did animations. but if they are animated gifs and such i get it.

so when a wav files plays, you can have the eye GLOW, then dim again when the wav file was finished.
so it looks like HAL is actually speaking.

I have been running Blu-Ray and HDDVD at 1920x1080 for over a year now without stutter. You could take this to a new thread and maybe we could help you out. Will need more details about your setup. Larry

xLObby V3 platform can use Microsofts WPF and Silverlight technologies. There is some really cool tools to create very visualy animated interfaces. As we move further into future releases of V3 some of these type of features will become available.

that is fantastic news that these technologies will in introduced but please tell us more...
How will the integration take place? what features will be available via plugins? etc...
I now have so many ideas in my head with this snippet of information - you have me on the edge of my seat.

Programming in these languages has a high learning curve, but once mastered, you can do anything.

Wes is this implemented in V3 now or is to come?
Also the rotating pictures you mentioned before, is that implemeted? Can't find how?

In the default skin folder add a new folder Backgrounds2 and add background jpg images with resolutions of 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768. Restart xLobby when restarted xLobby will load images from the Backgrounds2 folder randomly until the images are completed or if you number them like background1, background2, etc they will load in order. It is still experimental. We want to add a few basic commands like adjusting time in between images, the ability start and stop images as well as reset to a default image. Eventually more advanced features that can fade or blend images, etc.

To stop the roatating image feature rename or delete the folder.

cool. We need to add a event like -"Start rotate" and "Stop rotate" then one can start using it.
