Up a level as a catergory item

Got an idea, post it here

Up a level as a catergory item

Postby S Pittaway on Tue May 02, 2006 10:07 am

For directory structure category displays i think it would be more intuative to have the first item in the list be a "up a level" entry.

When people use xlobby at my house they never knopw how to go back a level when (for example) the are looking at photos.

Also it would free up a button on the skin...

I just kicked a screenie off xbmc what shows exactly what i mean.

Thiniking about it a bit more, what i am really asking for is an option to display "up a level" and have an event linked to it inside a catogory.

That would le me do thinks like click on a group, select an album, jump into the track listing do stuff, then click .. to go back to the albumns, then .. back to the groups.

ie,

start on

drill to
http://xbmc.sourceforge.net/imgs/xbmc_a ... yhem09.jpg

then back up to
http://xbmc.sourceforge.net/imgs/xbmc_a ... yhem16.jpg

Hope this makes sense :)

Yes, this is logical, but I'd like the option to turn it off/on, just in case - it wouldn't apply to all categories....

You can do it with music by using custom search

eg custom search of audioplayer>now>%artist% and go to category screen will go back to albums of artist nowplaying

Have a look at my skin - Sids jukebox - if you click "play it" on the random screen it takes you to the album tracklist and in juke mode, "add" does the same thing.
