Scatter Forager Antenna

Postby Marbles_00 on Thu May 12, 2011 5:26 pm

Been a while since I've updated this section. Since the last antenna build - the Stealth Hawk. I've also built an antenna called the "Scatter Forager", and I'm currently using it to retrieve a VHF-Hi channel. My project can be found here:
https://sites.google.com/site/maycreate ... er-forager

Based on the design principles here: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=127205

I had a shoot out between this antenna, the Stealth Hawk and a 2-bay bowtie (next post down). This one seemed to work best for my setup.

Also, since last posting here, I made quite a change to the OTA section of my website. Consequently all the links to my OTA antennas previously have changed (and now fixed), and are all linked off of the main page here: https://sites.google.com/site/maycreates/ota-setup

VHF 2-Bay Bowtie

Postby Marbles_00 on Thu May 12, 2011 5:29 pm

I quickly built this antenna to try it out in receiving some VHF stations. It went head to head against a Stealth Hawk, and Scatter Forager builds. Though, this antenna seemed to have the best reception, its sheer size, and element weakness, stopped me from actually using it.

The project can be found here:

VHF-Hi RF9 Channel Cut YAGI

Postby Marbles_00 on Thu May 12, 2011 5:34 pm

My new current project is building a VHF-Hi Yagi, designed primarily for receiving RF9 (186MHz-192MHz). Once Canada goes through the analog to digital transition, one of the stations will revert back to its RF9 allocation. The nice thing about this is if it doesn't work out (stations ERP will be a dismal 4.1kW if I recall), then I can cut it to tune in RF13 (210MHz-216MHz), with little bit more cutting and moving.

Details of this on-going project can be found here:
