new event: set focus on ID

Got an idea, post it here

new event: set focus on ID

Postby gamejester on Tue Sep 21, 2004 4:26 pm

I would like to assign an event to a button that will shift the highlighted focus to a specified buttons ID. This will make remote navigation a lot easier.

I will use this for:

1. Setting focus back to a category list once a filter has been selected from an overaly screen.
2. Setting focus on a category list after a reset has been performed.

Steve has created the new event.

xlobby->button select

where you specify the button ID and focus will be shifted. - typo corrected :shock:

This feature is designed for keyboard or remote navigation.
Its purpose is to jump the focus to a new button, not to keep focus in any one spot.

For example:
I use it when I bring up a filter overlay to set focus on the first item in the list. When you make your selection another action sets focus back on the calling screen category whilst closing the overlay.

This aids in guiding the user to the section of interest.
