Import "date created" into database

I always lose track of whats new and old in my movie and tv databases. An option to set order by the date a file was created would be useful. I tried importing files with the import options > pictures, but it did not give a date field in a format that could be organized usefully. The date field stared with the name of day of the week which is fine, but not for sorting by age. If an option could be added under Import type > custom that would import a date created field into the database in a format that could be ordered it would be great.
