Just an update - I've order an IPaq, the 12 channel amp, a stereo ceiling speaker, and an 8" touchscreen.

I'll post another update once they arrive and I get to play around with them :)

In answer to an earlier question, xp dooes support more than two monitors, you just add extra graphics cards. I had a pci card working with the existing agp card for a total of three monitors at one stage so it definitly works.

The 7" touchscreen that I use has a driver that works with multiple monitors with the touchscreen bit connecting by usb.

You can get a hardwired network adapter for a pda which if wall mounted with a powersupply at least overcomes the "waiting for wifi to wake up" issue that I have, but they are hidiously expensive compared to wifi adapters so I haven't tried one. You also need to be able to get to the reset button of a pda so embedded in the wall might be difficult.

i did come across a wall mounted touchscreen display that runs win ce and had a network port so sounded ideal for xlobby but early indications of price were about £600 which dampened my enthusiasim.

Whooa, everyone hold there horses, look what has just come out! http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/entry/1580/chip_pc-s_thin
This should theoretically allow you to just attach a touchscreen monitor to your wall... but not cheaper than an Ipaq...

Found it for sale in the UK here http://www.thinstore.net/cat_chip_pc1.cfm

Looks like it uses power over ethernet so a new switch will probably be required. Runs win ce 4.5/5.0 with ie 6.0 so should be ok for xlobby using the webclient and maybe(?) thin client.

Would be nice to run video on it.....Wonder if they take widescreen resolutions?

Apparently as a thin client, you will not be able to run video on it.
