how to turn subtitles on and off for mkv and avi

Postby billberet on Wed Dec 09, 2009 3:55 pm

hey, i've been trying to find a way to get my subtitles to work.
i have alot of jap anime and since i don't speak japanese, i need my subtitles.
the subtitle button never seemed to work for me in the internal player. I tried to program the ffdshow, and MKV settings to automatically play ENG subtitles when JAP is being used as the audio. i get a hit or miss, sometimes it works, others i have no luck and i have to manually go into the mkv settings and force them on. then turn them off when the video is finished.

this is mostly for my video's which are avi's and mkv's
my dvd's are already in english so it's not needed there.

anyone have any ideas

I too have not had much luck getting subtitle control though an XL command. Do you use ffdshow? I have had luck going directly into the settings and toggling them on/off there.
