I wrote a document explaining how to use DXC.

Cheers! :)

I'm having troubles getting my movies to link up with my iso files. I can get the movies to link up without the utility but then I get black pictures and no dvd profiler info. When I use the utility it links them all up to a video_ts file that doesn't exist. Can someone please help.

If using DXC utility, please post or mail me your dxc2.ini file (it's an ordinary text file).

I would also need to know the local search path to at least one of the iso files in question.

I'm still confused. If my movies are stored as ISO files, how do I configure DXC Movie Search Setup?

If your movies are stored as ISO files, either the files themselves or the directories they reside in needs to be named the same as the movie titles or sort titles. Under DXC file search options you can select to match titles or sort titles.

Example 1: the directory names are the same as the movie titles

C:\Movies\Slumdog Millionaire\movie.iso
C:\Movies\Gothika\movie.iso
C:\Movies\Gran Torino\movie.iso
C:\Movies\Van Helsing\movie.iso

To find these movies you would add C:\Movies\ as search path and mark "Select first file" like this:

http://www.jovialmood.st/images/dxc_doc/isoexample1.gif

Example 2: the file names are the same as the movie titles

C:\Movies\Slumdog Millionaire.iso
C:\Movies\Gothika.iso
C:\Movies\Gran Torino.iso
C:\Movies\Van Helsing.iso

To find these movies you would add C:\Movies\ as search path and omit the file name like this:

http://www.jovialmood.st/images/dxc_doc/isoexample2.gif

Using these examples the search path list will look like this:

http://www.jovialmood.st/images/dxc_doc/isoexamplelist.gif

As you can see in the list the first search will try to match directory names to movie titles. If there's a matching directory name the first file found in that directory will be considered as a search hit.
The second search in the list indicates that file names will be matched against the movie titles.

I hope this help.

It still isn't working for me. When I check the database, it still shows the "video_ts.ifo" parameter but not the path.

To give you more info, a typical ISO file on my system looks like this: "\\Htpc\p\Movies\PREDATOR 2\PREDATOR 2.ISO".
P represents my server's external drive, of which I have several. Htpc is my server on my network.

If you open the file xx\dxc_cache\dxc_hits.xml (xx is the path to where dxc2.exe is) in a text editor (like notepad), are there any items between the cache tags?

If not, please open one of the dxc_nn.xml in the same directory (nn is the number of the listed search path, numbered from 0 and up). Do you see the actual search path that should render a search hit in this file?

Jovial_Mood, since my last post I checked the "search all subdirectories" box, and it was definetly doing more on the conversion process. but at the end of the conversion it would error out with an "error 91" message.

The first message reads:
"Error while converting DVD Profiler -> Xlobby Database
Error code:91
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Please check your DXC Settings..."

The next message reads:
"Error counting movies in DVD Profiler Database.
Error code:91
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Shutting down DXC..."

When I check dxc_hits like you asked I see that there are items and matches and the path files are found. For example:
<item>
<title>ALADDIN</title>
<c_number>381</c_number>
<match>ALADDIN</match>
<path>\\Htpc\M\Movies\ALADDIN\ALADDIN.ISO</path>
<search>#3 | \\Htpc\M\Movies\</search>
</item>

Am I having a problem because I have more movies listed in DVD Profiler than I actively do on my server (this would be due to hard drives crashing :x ) ?

Those two error 91 messages would be typical if DXC can't read the input file properly. You might want to export a new Collection.xml to make sure it's ok. Also, make sure you're using the latest version of DVD Profiler (v3.5.1 Build 1252).

If you're only getting these errors when using the search function and not with the search function disabled, one or more of your titles in your DVD Profiler xml might be missing the CollectionNumber tag.

Further more, I found a bug in how DXC handles box sets when the search function is enabled. I will make a new version of DXC available soon.

Jovial

Can you help me with this question.

Your app is working great except?

That it is overwriting the setting for Event (Assign an individual event to a database item)

When I assigned and event to an individual item everything is fine until I use your app then it overrites the setting I just made, can you tell me how to prevent your app from removing this setting.

Thanks

Even though you can import some tags with Xlobby's own import function I believe this utility gives you a little more control over which information should be imported and which shouldn't.

The latest version of the utility can be downloaded from the address:
