Media , Import, display and Playback -. How to?

Postby noviceboy on Sun Feb 01, 2004 12:33 pm

If I have media files called say media1.ext to media(n).ext in a direct <DIR> and a player PLAYER.exe how do I use/set up xlobby to:-

"import" them into a database, have a screen similar to built in DVD screen, but will display my media files and call up the correct player.

Can this bee done automatically or is it a case of copying existing database/screen XML files and "hacking" them?

Thanks in advance

A new thought...

Would this work?

If Xlobby calls an external program to play the file, then I assume if my external program was just a "middleman" (that looked at extention of file to be played and called an appropriate PLAYER.EXE), then I could have what I really want. That is and a single Libary screen. Frankly I do not want to care whether it is a DVD on/offline , some recorded TV show etc.

I would select the files based on genres etc.

THen I have a logocal single display 'n' Play screen.

I realise a multi-format player like ZP could work htis out from the passed filename anyway oor an I missing somethinh?
